Ashton 0 v U13 4

A good game played on a cold and wet day away at Ashton; these games are always played in the right spirit, no matter what the result.

We held the advantage today playing some good football, our movement was good and we used the width of the pitch well.

Myles and Mike upfront worked well together, covering lots of ground and proving a handful for the Ashton defence, whose No 3 at left back had a particularly good game.

The first goal was scored by Myles who broke through the defence and beat the excellent Ashton keeper one on one.

The second goal was well worked with Luke driving in a free kick – getting the ball back and hitting a left foot curler into the bottom corner – I’m sure that Sean hasn’t heard the last of that !!!!

HT 2-0

We continued to attack Ashton’s goal and if it wasn’t for the great display by their keeper would have scored more goals – he was brave, strong and positioned himself very well, making some crucial saves.

Jack scored the 3rd goal with a snapshot in the box – deserved for an industrious display.

Archie was playing well at right back and used his speed to great effect, particularly when overlapping on attack.

The 4th goal was scored by Matty Bowen, who was on as a sub on the left hand side – he got on the end of a great cross from Mike, to sidefoot into the net.

Final score 4-0.

MOM – Mike B – a strong and skilful display, with a never say die attitude.
