U13 1 v Bleak Hill 5
After our recent good performances we came back down to earth with a bang !!!
We played poorly and Bleak Hill played very well.
They pass the ball and move well and we let them do what they wanted to, with a lack of closing down, movement, communication and a failure to keep our shape all contributing to possibly our worst display of the season.
Bleak Hill went ahead after 3 minutes with a penalty awarded for handball – this was unfortunate as the ball took a bad bounce and just shot up to hit the hand. 0-1.
A second goal followed shortly to make it 0-2.
We had very few chances, with Nick coming closest when his shot was just blocked in the box after a good run.
Ht 0-2
We were still in the game at this point, but proceeded to concede 2 goals from corners where our central defenders got dragged out of the box following a player instead of keeping a position, leaving the net wide open.
Our passing game was poor with too many players just wanted to get rid of the ball anywhere instead of trying to keep it – this just invited pressure on us.
Michael came close to scoring when cutting in from the right hand side, but put the ball over the bar.
Bleak Hill then came back down field to score a great goal with a shot from the edge of the box.
In the last 5 minutes Matthew scored a consolation goal to make the final score 1-5
Only Tom and Liam performed anywhere near the required standard, with Liam just edging MOM, continuing his recent good form.
Final Score 1-5
