Billinge U13’s 1 v Golborne 2

On a lovely crisp sunny morning this was a great game of football that could have gone either way.

Golborne pass the ball and move as well as any team in the league and put our defence under pressure for the first 20 minutes until we got our heads into gear.

They took the lead when a shot that was going straight into Tom’s arms (standing in for Adam and did a very good job for his first time ever in nets), hit a divot in the ground and spiraled over his head – there was nothing he could do about it.

HT 0-1

We then started to play and Mike (in attack again after a couple of games absence ) was giving the Golborne defence a hard time, ably supported by Myles.

He scored our equalizer when cutting in from the left and shooting past the goalie. 1-1

The game was end to end with both teams playing well. HT 1-1

The second half carried on as the first, we gradually increased the pressure, but couldn’t score past the excellent goalie. He made a particularly good save from Nicks left foot shot, getting down bravely and quickly.

Luke was marshalling the defence well and coping with everything that Golborne threw at us.

However with a minute to go, Golborne gained a corner and despite Bowens efforts to clear the ball they managed to score the winner 1-2.

Gutted doesn’t describe it, as a draw would have been a fair result.

Good performances all round but in particular Mike B, Liam, Luke and Bowen, with Luke winning the MOM
