U13 - 3 v Highfield 1
A much better performance than last week, with the boys playing some good passing football.
We started off well playing against the wind and created a number of opportunities which we squandered – we do need to be more ruthless in front of goal.
Archie shot wide a couple of times and Nick hit the cross bar with a shot from outside the box.
We opened the scoring when Jack followed up a shot that the keeper blocked, to make it 1-0.
The game was then end to end with both sides playing well.
Highfield equalized when they got a free kick on the edge of our area – they hit it great shot over the wall to make it 1-1.

We had the strong wind in the 2nd half, and Highfield struggled to get out of there half – in fact after nearly scoring after a mix up in our box just after ko, they didn’t really trouble Adam in nets.
Nick was fouled on the edge of the Highfield area and just like Highfield in the first half hit a great free kick that the keeper had no chance with, to make the score 2-1.
I do have to mention the miss of the season when Myles pressured the keeper who lost the ball, the keeper was stranded on the edge of the box and all Myles had to do was stroke the ball into the empty net – he proceeded to ball the ball wide from 5 yards !!!(I’m sure he will thank me for mentioning this !!!).
In all fairness to him, he has a lot of character and didn’t let his head go down, shortly after he went on a great run down the wing, put an inch perfect cross onto Archie’s head to make the score 3-1.
This was much improved from last week and if the boys remember that they have to work as hard when they don’t have the ball as when they do have it they won’t go far wrong.
A number of players gave there best performance for a while – Archie, Bowen, Nick and Luke, but the MOM went to Jack for an all-round good performance.
