Bleak Hill 2 v U13's 1

Despite having Mike and Luke away on holiday, this was an excellent performance against table topping Bleak Hill.

It was a shame that the game as a whole was spoilt by over officious refereeing. – over 30 free kicks and 2 yellow cards in what was in my opinion, just a good game between two groups of 12/13 year olds.

The game was from end to end, with Bleak Hills goalie making a particularly good save from Nicks long range shot.

Adam in our nets positioned himself very well, to save a couple of free kicks.

Jack in midfield was playing very well, closing down quickly and passing the ball accurately.

As the first half came to a close, Jez went down injured in tears – the ref just looked at him and waved play on – from which Bleak Hill scored – surely a boys welfare comes before strict application of the rules.

HT 0-1

The 2nd half carried on as the first, with both sides playing well.

We came close on a couple of occasions but couldn’t quite finish.

Bleak Hills second goal, came from a bad bounce which was miscued by our defence and finished very well by Bleak Hill.

Reece quickly pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 with 10 minutes to go.

We then had the unusual situation of 2 yellow cards being shown – one to each side – our first one ever, - again not really sure what it was for – maybe talking to the boys/manager to explain situations would be a better option.

We had a lot of pressure in the last 10 minutes but Bleak Hill held out for a good win.

Final Score 2-1 to Bleak Hill , MOM Jack, Scorer Reece.
